Engineered hardwood in cat area?

Anonymous
We need to replace our floor in the area where we keep our litter box and cat food. We are thinking of an engineered hardwood from Home Depot.

Will this be ruined easily when the cats make messes? Would Pergo be better?

If we choose engineered hardwood, anything we should look for in terms of quality?

I know both Pergo and engineered hardwood aren't as nice as solid hardwood, but my main concern is something that is easy to clean and won't be ruined if a mess sits on it for a few hours before I come home and clean it up.
