Built-in advice?

I have two window seats in both the kitchen and the living room that I though would make excellent places for extra storage. Has anyone done this? There are so many options - lift up the seat to access the space, install a few cabinets, just make three or four open spaces and use baskets, install drawers.....

Any been there done that stories?

We have a window seat in the dining room that lifts for storage underneath. It's useful, but if I were starting from scratch I think cabinets would be more useful.

I think you can use IKEA small uppers (the size that goes over the fridge), install legs, and voila, a storage bench.
