What would you do with your 14 year old DD if she were the one in the case being discussed now?
I think banning electronics/internet access would be a start. Very, very close supervision. How do you make sure she realizes how serious this could have been for her? How can she atone for her part in this whole thing? |
Really? A young man, due to no fault of his own, is not a labeled sex offender. How much more could it be for her? She's now a "victim", and I'm sure will be treated as such. If this was my daughter.. No social media. No computers, Internet (even Apple TV) in her room. All passwords, etc. provided to me. Open door policy for at least the next 2 years. Volunteer work at a women's shelter. IMHO, parents are a little bit to blame, teens lie, yes, but she also had access and time to have sex with an unknown boy. She'd also be a lot more accountable for her time. I was 14 once and alternated between explored and toed lines I maybe shouldn't have. This goes beyond that. |

If my 14 yo boy or girl communicate with any strangers on social media they will be grounded and social media will be taken away.
If my 14 yo boy or girl MEET a stranger ... they will be on lock down for a long time. |
OP here, what I mean by how serious it could have been for her... she could be dead. She could be locked up in some sicko's basement and kept as a sex slave. "Could be".. I would want to scare the hell out of her. I like the idea of volunteering in a women's shelter in addition to the loss of online access, etc. |
