I've been told that honey + borax makes a good ant trap. Has anyone tried this? How quickly does it work? |
I tried this and it never got rid of the ants...it was like a buffet for them. Just get terro it will get rid of them fast! |
Not Borax.
Use Boric Acid and and some sugar syrup or jam. It is amazing. They are gone in 2-3 days. I saw a long line of ants and I was careful not to wipe or disrupt the trail (because ants follow the chemical scent on the trail). Next I put the bait at several places along the trail. Very soon the ants were congregating around the baits. It was like a science experiment. There were so many of them around the bait - frozen, just eating, eating, eating. They would gorge themselves on the bait and then return to their nest. You could see the trail shrinking after some time. They would return to the nest and die of dehydration. They would feed others the bait and those ants would also get dehydrated. 2-3 days later, the entire hive was dead and gone. It is AMAZING. http://www.food.com/recipe/get-rid-of-ants-ants-ants-203233 |
We also had luck with cinnamon in areas leading to the outside. We had a bit of an ant problem next to our sliding glass door, and sprinkled cinnamon inside the track. Worked in a couple days, and was safe to use around our toddler ![]() |
The cinnamon idea is interesting - I'll try it.
Terro is the best stuff out there. It's boric acid mixed with something tasty and really works. |
Ants are our friends. Try keeping them out of the house. |
