South Beach or other easily accessible beach destination

We're looking for a warm place to go for three nights without the kids in the winter. Because it would only be three nights, we'd rather go somewhere that is a short non-stop flight from DC so we don't waste precious vacation/beach time on planes/at airports. We thought maybe South Beach or somewhere else in Florida. What would be good places to stay? What about some Caribbean destinations? I know there are non-stop flights to Punta Cana in the summer, but I don't know if they're year-round.

OP here. Bermuda is certainly an option (though a little pricey). Have you been? I was looking at Grotto Bay as a possible place to stay.

Bermuda is cold in the winter (for an island). I prefer the Bal Harbour area of Miami to South Beach. Could always drive down for nightlife/restaurants.

Bahamas, Aruba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St Thomas and Cayman are all nonstop from either BWI or Dulles. You will spend more time in customs though so I would vote for a luxury place in Miami - love the St. Regis!
