| My 7 month old is at an in-home daycare and hasn't been napping there lately. Sometimes we get one but the last two days he hasn't napped at all (until he came home at 4). I wonder whether it's just too loud. The cribs are in another room upstairs but I think he can hear what's going on in the playroom, and he is perhaps too curious. Have any of you dealt with this? We're contemplating asking her if she'd use a white noise machine (we'd provide it) but I don't know if a daycare provider would take offense to that. Since it's an in-home care with kids of several ages, I think there is always someone that is awake (besides my son). He seems to wake up naturally after about 10 hours at night, so he's not making up the deficit. For what it's worth, he napped great at home this weekend. |

If he's been napping there consistently in the past, it might just be a phase, teething, etc. You could certainly ask about the white noise machine in a nice, non-offensive way, if you think it would help.
My first step would be to simply ask the providers if they have any ideas when he hasn't been napping. I'd approach it as a collaborative situation and see if they have any suggestions for you or to help remedy the situation. It's probably just a fluke and he will start napping again, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions that they need to do something differently, but I'd ask instead. Maybe they have a suggestion for you or would really appreciate the white noise option. |
| I am having the same issue, but with my 4.5 month old. She co-sleeps with me at night, and I think may just not want to sleep without me during the day. Some days she takes two naps close to an hour and a shorter (20-30 minute) nap, other days she takes just one good nap. Thoughts or advice? |
| Ask about the white noise, that might help! Have her replicate your routine at home...we consistently sing Twinkle Twinkle when she goes down, and so does daycare. My daughter catnapped at home and daycare until about 11 months. It will work out! |
