Lamps unlimited in Mclean also is a cool independent store, off of 123/Chain Bridge road.

also check etsy - there are lots of independent folks making cool midcentury styles right now, and usually a lot cheaper than the big retailers. Unfortunately with etsy, you have to weed through lots of crap.
