Butcher block kitchen island

I will be reconfiguring my kitchen island and plan to replace the granite on the island with butcher block. (There is no way to exactly match the existing granite in the dimensions that we need.) if you have butcher block - where did you purchase and how is the maintenance?

We bought ours online from Boos. Extremely happy with the quality. You can custom order in any size, wood, base color. We got the exact measurements we need. Ours is unsealed maple, and we clea it with hardwood floor cleaner. We don't cut on it. Kids write with crayons, pencils, and we've had wet glasses sit overnigt, never a problem, it comes right up. It's about 2years old and we have resanded once to get out a sharpie stain. We use beeswax once every six months and it looks great after.
