| We are looking for a spot for a vacation home to share with family in nyc. Ideally it would be relatively equidistance between the two areas. Any ideas on locations with access to skiing and lakes so that it could be used all year round? |
| Vermont. |
| Poconos? Deep Creek? |
Or the adirondacks. There's no quality skiing equidistant. |
|
Is there any skiing near Lake Walenpaupak in PA?
Deep Creek would be too far for the NYC folks. |
| Not equidistant but the North Conway/Jefferson area in New Hampshire is amazing for skiing and water activities! |
| There is no good skiing in the mid atlantic. If you are a skier and you want east coast you need northern new england (not even berkshires, skiing there is bad too). This is not conducive to having a ski house if you are in DC. Can you just settle on sharing a beach house in Cape May? |
Like buying a ski house is a waste if you are a real skier and buy in between here and NYC. You won't be near good water and the resort towns are crap as are the lakes. Go new england or just do a beach house. |
| I like 7 springs the most for skiing. I have no idea if there are houses up there or a lake though. It's near Pittsburgh |
OP did not specify good skiing.
|
| Lake Naomi/Timber Trails in the Poconos |
But who wants to go to a boring little area for years and years?!? |
Which is why I personally wouldn't ever get a ski/lake house myself. At least not on the East Coast. OP asked about a specific region. Slim pickin's. |
| Poconos is the obvious choice. |
