| Looking for something light but not trashy. Was going to download Primates of the Upper East Side, but thought I'd get bored. Suggestions? |

Just read primates of park ave! It's an easy entertaining read. Other suggestions:
Gone girl Orange is the new black ALL Chelsea handler books... I know you said not trashy, but her books are hysterical |
| I just finished "Bringing up Bebe" by Pamela Drucker. Even if you're not a parent, it's an engrossing (and quick!) read. |
| I just finished Big Little Lies and really liked it. |
|
I would only recommend "Gone Girl" if you are okay with investing a few hours into something, then being pissed because you didn't get a good ending! When I finished reading that thick book, I threw it against my wall. Really!! I felt like I was hustled, I knew I couldn't get back those hours lost or the money I spent on that damn book. No worries, I am not doling out any spoilers...I just hated the ending.
Good news though, I just finished "The Girl on the Train" and it had a much better ending. Gillian Flynn should be jealous. Now that is what I call a good suspense novel.
Another favorite is "Orphan Train." Touching and extremely well-written. |

Also liked Primates!
Try In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume. |
Me too! Just finished it last night. I've also read two of Liane Moriarty's other books, What Alice Forgot, and The Husbands Secret recently. I love them! They're definitely not trashy. And while the main subjects of each book are fairly heavy, they manage to be fun reads. |
| I don't know if this qualifies as light, but I'm reading "All the Light We Cannot See" and it's an easy read and beautifully written. |
|
I know you said "light," but I can't resist giving a shout out to Chris Cleave's "Gold." Don't be fooled by the cover, or the references to elite athletics, or anything else -- when you have time to appreciate gorgeous language, an immense plot that's more compelling than any I've read in a while, and when you're ready for Kleenex (or at least I was) -- grab this. I can't wait to re-read it.
As for light, I find Jennifer Weiner to be so (occasionally -- some are much heavier than others) and I have always loved Susan Isaacs, anything she crafts. Enjoy! |
| The Royal We (fictionalized account of the courtship of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge -- very cleverly written) |
| I like Laura Dave's books. I also recently finished the Life and Death of Sophie Stark which was quite compelling. |
Just finished this one and I must concur. Totally engrossing, great fun summer reading. |
| The Late Lamented Molly Malone by Sally Koslow |
| I meant the Late Lamented Molly Marx. |
| A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams |
