Stoddert or Peabody?

We're looking at renting in bounds for one or the other (just where the places we are looking happen to be), presumably staying for a few years, so we'd hit K, 1 and maybe 2, and then also presumably moving again (to buy) so I don't think Watkins factors in. Will likely need some special education support, but minimal pull out, so both should be able to serve. Are there any meaningful differences between the two schools that should guide us? Things to consider that might not immediately come to mind as a potential issue (like something with aftercare or other logistics)?

TIA!

I thought Watkins started at first.

When would you be planning to move in? This fall? Or next year? Watkins is being renovated, with completion expected in 2017.

What sorts of things do you consider to be "meaningful"?

Stoddert. By far. One of the best in the city.

OP here, oh on Watkins, I thought it started at 2nd for some reason, not sure why because I looked at the website - gives me pause that there's then a school switch between K and 1 and then almost certainly again when we move (though I guess everyone at Peabody experiences that so there's consistency through some classmates).

Moving this fall, a year out from K.

As to meaningful - I guess I figured I'd know it when I saw it, if someone pointed it out... so maybe it's more of a do you see meaningful differences between them?

If you'd know it when you see it, then you should probably visit the two schools yourself. What some people see as meaningful might not be so meaningful to you.

OP = I think people are struggling because those are not two schools that people usually compare head to head - very different neighborhoods for starters.

Peabody has some really excellent specials teachers which your kid will have regardless of the classroom he or she has each year. The music, library, and art teachers are each really wonderful people.

I can't comment on Stoddert, but Peabody is a great school. Plus I have a special needs kid with an IEP and can vouch for the excellent special education instructor and speech therapist -- if either is relevant to you.

I can also say that practically the entire K grade from last year Is heading to Watkins for 1st, so there will be plenty of continuity.

Stoddert sounds better for the long run...does it feed to Hardy? I guess Deal is not important to you?
