Am wondering how far out of the norm I am to just stick $10 per week in the envelope.
For reference: HHI is 150K. |
That's low for your in income. |
| Do you have kids who you'd like to receive the sacraments there eventually? God forbid there were a tragedy, would you want a loved one's funeral there? If so, I would up your contributions. |
|
OP here, only in this area for 1 more year.
When we move our HHI will be at 100K. What's a reasonable amount for the new church so I start out on a good foot? (no kids but good point about the funerals) |

HHI $260.
We give $40 a week (by automatic deduction), contribute $25 a week to their building fund, and give separately to a few charities. |
| I'm the automatic deduction person-- we used to give quite a bit less but we found a Catholic church we actually love. Imagine. |
| $20 usually. Sometimes $40. If it's just you, I could see doing $10, but if it's youband a spouse, I'd think at least $20 would be more reasonable. |
| I don't personally know any Catholics who tithe, but I think that .0035% of your gross income is pretty low. Of course, you can contribute in other ways, volunteering your time and/or talents. |
$50/month auto withdrawal, various contributions throughout the year when the spirit moves me
Examples: $200 to the preschool on Teacher Appreciation Day, $50 to the altar flower fund for Easter, $500 for each kids christening. HHI $125k |

| We have a slightly lower HHI and do $15-$20 a week usually. But we also do two tuitions to the parish school and support every extra fund and collection. If we didn't have the tuitions I would do more. |
When we were practicing, we put in $10. HHI - $200K Now those pedophiles get nothing. It all goes to the college fund instead. |
| When we were considering the catholic school with the parish, the monsignor told us he expected AT LEAST $1k/year, or $20/ week. |
My HHI is 1/2 that and I put $20, plus my 10 year old puts in 10% of her weekly allowance. |
| Not Catholic, but go to a different denomination. These sound very low. We give $1500k each quarter on HHI of $180k. |
