About to embark on a large home addition

So I am about to embark on a large home addition. We have an architect and are about to sign with a builder. It's a second story addition, 1200 sf.

For those who have been there/down that and survived - what advice can you offer? Things I should know, look out for, be aware of? Were you happy with the builder you used? If not, were there signs early on that, in retrospect, you should have seen? Were there parts of the process you weren't prepared for or things you wish someone had told you ahead of time?
