Best Place to get New Oven

Anonymous
Ordered one through Sears and it was a cluster re: delivery and installation and bad customer service so we cancelled our order. Just need a basic stainless steel oven. Good quality but not high-end. Need seemless delivery, installation and good price. Bray & Scarff sounds good and like the idea of using a local store rather than big box, but are their prices competitive? Better off with Home Depot?

Just had a HORRIBLE experience with Lowes. It was such a nightmare.

We went with Lowes and that was the easy part.

I have double ovens, but it was a PITA to get one to fit in our cabinet. Apparently ovens come in lots of shapes and sizes! So make sure you measure really, really well.

How old is your current oven? My house is only 15 years, but the code changed and now we needed a new wire to the breaker for the ovens... which meant an electrician.

OP here: our oven is at least 11 years old because it came with our house. A basic GE and served us pretty well although now there is an error message that apparently is a computer error and not fixable. It turns off after 40 minutes, which we've lived with for too long. Bray & Scarff does a "home assessment" when you order to make sure the measurements are correct so that's a plus.

I don't trust the sales people at Bray and Scarff. A while ago, I bought a washer at full price and when it broke in a few days, i was told (1) I could not return it and (2) the unit actually a couple years old and was past the warrenty period.

If you are in Arlington, Glebe Radio and Appliances off of Lee Hwy. is amazing for customer service (but they only sell GE). The storefront is nothing but they can order you anything in the GE catalog.

I had a great experience with Bray & Scarff for a couple of different appliances, including a new oven/stove combo.

They tend to carry the higher-end models, but in a model:model comparison we found their prices competitive. Just be prepared to see the more expensive brands/models when you walk in. We ended up choosing a Thermador and absolutely couldn't be happier.

Our experience with Lowes was super easy and we are pleased.

Best Buy- Pacifica. Great selection, competitive pricing. Bought an entire kitchen appliance package from them and everything went well.

Not OP, but do you know of other companies that do this?
