Bullis Summer Program

Anonymous
I signed up my 5yo dd for 1/2 day mornings soccer camp at Bullis Summer. After picking her up the first day at 12, I was told that the 3 hour camp includes 45 minutes to an hour of "lunch" and getting to and from lunch. Most kids stay the entire day and for them this might make sense. Does anyone have an opinion about whether this is fair for a half-day camper, one of the options that Bullis offers? There was no indication that there would be a lunch at 11 AM on the website or in the orientation materials as she is only there for half the day, I assumed that she would eat lunch at home. The director pointed me to a a brochure that can be found online that refers to a lunch. We never saw that brochure before and there doesn't seem to be a link to it from the website.

(In light of this, I asked the director to excuse my dd from the second week - of two weeks - and she refused.)

We had full day soccer camp at Bullis in a previous year. My worst camp experience ever. My child told me kids ate lunch while sitting in a locker room. They spent a huge amount of time watching movies and the World Cup. I dropped by mid day and saw the young counselor fiddling with their phones while the kids were still expect to "play" in the hot heat. We talked to friends with kids in other outdoor sports camps and they were not impressed either. None of us went back to sign up for any other programs.

That is terrible. It makes zero sense to have lunch for kids who leave at 12. I would leave a review on google, yelp, dcum, and any other sites you can think of!

Not sure if you have any recourse now, unfortunately.

That would really piss me off OP. You are paying a lot of money for, what amounts to, probably less than 2 hours of actual activities. The director- was it the head of the whole program?

I think you are bulling the Bullis!
When do you expect them to eat? Go for full day camp!
