| It looks like Old Navy is having a good uniform sale. How many do I need for my incoming PK3 student? 5 short sleeve, 5 shorts, 5 long sleeved, 5 pants? More? Less? |
| Do they actually have sizes small enough for a PK3er? I couldn't find pants small enough for my little dude. |
| Probably 1 or 2 more at least, but it depends how often you do laundry (we are once a week folks). You'll need one set of clothes to keep at school in case of accidents ("accidents" but also lunch or art project spills), and then when that comes home, you'll need to replace it the next day. Also our son, would constantly go through the knees in his pants, so we ended up having to get more of those. The iron on knee patches would usually buy us a week or two more, but no more than that. |
| I wore uniforms my whole life. I think you need 7 shirts, but only like 5 bottoms (mix and match skirts, shorts and pants). Bottoms can be worn more than once (depending on how much you like to launder). |
We bought toddler sizes. |
| I would get more short sleeved shirts and long pants. You can slip a long t-shirt on under the short sleeved polos in the fall and the knees can start to wear in the pants so I would have more on hand. |
| We found it helpful to have more bottoms than tops (frequent accidents for the first several weeks, then occasionally throughout the year during naptime). |
| If your kid is between sizes buy larger, they will grow. Also keep in mind weather, if they are dresses, less likely to wear in winter. |
|
For my boys, I always bought 6 tops (5+1 extra) and 3 bottoms. I bought six of the same (polos) because they only ever liked one kind. I went from buying short sleeve polos and adding long sleeve polos to letting them figure out if they need the long sleeve ones at all.
If you have trouble finding the right size, French Toast has great fitting toddler sizes with adjustable waist bands and a pretend fly. |
|
I never bothered with long sleeved. Just throw a sweater over it or shirt under it. Keep in mind light colored shirts will get stains. Yes to extra for potty accidents.
I bought a size up and ended up returning them as they were HUGE. My kid is a slow grower, though. |
Old Navy sells uniforms for both "boys" and "toddlers." Check out the toddler selection--I just bought everything for my PK3er. I had to order online, though--they didn't have it in the stores. |
| OP, I did exactly what you did. 5,5,5. Worked perfectly. Even when I hadn't done laundry once a week in the colder months, i could put a long sleeve shirt under the short sleeved ones. |
| I like Target's Cherokee brand of uniform pants and tops. They have toddler sizes, too. |
| I like value village for uniforms and Burlington coat factory has a ton of French toast items at this time of year for less than the French toast website. French toast stuff is usually great. My son is going into 2nd and has some French toast pants I bought him half way through preK-4 (now they have been hemmed into shorts). |
| Try Kids for Less in Iverson Mall off of Branch Avenue. They have a wide variety of sizes. Children's Place used to have toddler uniform pants that had reinforced knees. But we also went to the fabric store and got knee patches as well. |
