Accent Walls: Hot or Not?

Anonymous
We are selling our home and wondering if we should throw in some color in at least one or two rooms by using accent walls? The main color throughout is beige. Should we do a soft blue or a green on a wall to add some color?

no. People hate color because that means they need to repaint which means prime and then paint. Don't do accent walls

X10000 we purchased one with a red textured accent wall. Two coats of primer and two couats of SW. I must've spent $100 only on that one damn wall.

Would not do an accent wall for staging. Throw in color with pillows, throws, pictures etc.

No!! It's a wall that will never match the other ones in the room.

NO

It's outdated.

Ew, no. It would just be more work work for the buyer to repaint.

Selling or not, accent walls are hideous.

+1

The chances of a prospective buyer wanting an accent wall AND wanting an accent wall the exact color you picked are pretty slim.

Okay, good. It's unanimous, OP. We all think it's an awful idea.

All I'd see is something I'd have to fix.

We have some accent walls in our newly constructed, newly painted addition and they are just lovely, match our furniture, decor, and taste. We worked with a designer to pick colors that work beautifully with the light in these rooms. But for staging? No how no way. Pick a neutral. You want to take personality out of a house being staged, not add it. Save the creativity for your new house!

No, no, no. Paint the walls white or gray.

OP here. Thanks everyone. There will be no accent walls. Painting everything neutral - grey, beige or greige. It is killing me because I hated the white walls the entire time I lived here but you are right...I will save the color that fits MY personality for the new home.

Accent walls were hot for about a minute in 2002. No way.

I love my accent wall. But I did buy an extra 2 gallons of paint in the same off-white as the rest of the walls to paint over if we ever sell.
