Follicle size-too big?

| Does anyone know if a 27 mm follicle is too big to contain a viable egg? I went in today for a monitoring appt. I had a 27 mm follicle on my left and a 16 mm follicle on my right (along with a couple of smaller ones). I am planning on triggering tonight and my IUIs will be tomorrow and Sunday. |

| 27 sounds a little big, but some of your smaller ones may catch up, and the 16mm follicle sounds good. It only takes one! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. |

| What was the size of the 27mm one a couple of days ago when you had an u/s? Shouldn't it have been >20 at that time too? Good luck to you! |

| OP here-This was my first u/s (day 10) since my day 3 u/s so I do not know how big the follicle was a couple of days ago. All of the follicles were below 10 mm at the day 3 u/s. Also my nurse just called and my estrogen is 737. |

| Nased on your estrogen levels it sounds like you might have 3-4 mature follies. Maybe the 27 mm is blocking another? |

| Were you on injectables or Clomid or Femara? I think REs like follies to be a bit bigger on Clomid. Usually, on injectables, follicles over 25 don't usually have great eggs, but there are always exceptions. The 16 should be mature though, and your estrogen is good, so you might have another mature one as well. If there's a next time, I would insist on being monitored sooner and more regularly. |

| OP here-I was on 100 mg of clomid from day 3-7. |

| Ok, then I think you should feel a bit better about that big one. Other advice still applies though, in the future, you need to make sure they monitor you early and often. You're a good responder, which is a good thing, mostly, but needs to be watched. |

| Not to burst your bubble, but could the 27mm be a cyst? Did you ask your RE that? |

| RE's can easily spot what a cyst looks like over a viable follicle. My RE alawys pointed out that I had a functional (empty) cyst on my right ovary. |

OP here-I just got my beta hcg results back and I am pregnant! My hcg level was 250 at 15 dpo so I guess one of those follicles was viable.
