Counting days to embyro transfer?

I always thought that the day of egg retrieval was considered Day 1 for embryo development, and that a Day 3 transfer would occur two days later. That is, if my egg retrieval is scheduled for a Thursday, a Day-3 transfer would occur on the following Saturday.

I just got my tentative IVF schedule and my nurse has my transfer on Sunday, instead, which surprised me.

(Of course, I know all these days could change - just checking on my understanding.)

she is correct -- for example, a retrieval on monday would result in a 3 day transfer taking place on thursday.

Unlike your menstrual cycle, where the first day is Day 1, with IVF the retrieval day is "Day 0" so you start counting the next day.

Thanks. My cycle was just canceled, so I don't have to worry about the timing of retrieval and transfer this month.
