lip waxing--stubble?

Anonymous
Okay, so I am a pretty hairy person! I don't usually wax. For example, when I have waxed my bikini area, it grows back in like 2 weeks and I never have kept it up long enough to see if waxing thins it out. I have used bleach on my upper lip, but its a pain. I would wax, but I am worried about how it would grow back in between. My hair is dark and I dont want a stubbly lip! Anyone have experience with this?

Nair works really well for me for facial hair, if you aren't opposed to using chemicals.

I'm hairy too and mine grows back thick and fast. I only wax for special occasions that are happening the next day.

I use a combination of bleach and Surgi-Cream. It's a pain but it works for me.

OP here--what is surgi-cream?

Have you tried threading it? I do mine and eyebrows too. If done properly, you should not get a stubble.

you won't get stubble. I've waxed my upper lip for years and years. Of course, I have a few hairs that are more coarse, but I just yank those with the tweezers when they pop up.
I also wax my upper lip at home now using strips that you warm by rubbing between your palms--I can't think of the brand now, but CVS should have it. $7 or so for a whole box.

OP again--so what do you do as the hair grows back before you can wax again?

I sometimes wax, sometimes thread. Prefer the thread - waxing leaves a numb sensation on my upper lip. Between wax/thread sessions i don't do anything. But I do it quite regularly, 1 a month. If an emergency comes earlier - I use epilator machine. I think there is more chance of getting stubble with creams.

Surgi-Cream is a cream depilatory like the Nair mentioned above. I've found that one works best for me, it's found at the drugstore or Ulta.

If it'd dark, bleach--I used to have to do that, but now I don't really notice it growing in--more like it's just back and time to wax again.

try laser hair removal. has been well worth the money for me.

try threading....its great, fast, and causes a lot LESS reaction than waxing. there's a good place (kiosk) that does it in Montgomery Mall outside the Sears on the first level. Its $7 for the lip.
