Need Ideas for a Carnival-Like Birthday

Anonymous
Two kids - turning 4 and 6. We want to combine their birthdays to save money and the kids are pretty much around each others friends anyway.

We have a big social room we could rent. What activities would be fun? Carnival Theme? Games? Face painter (though perhaps too much money), balloon person?

We'd allow siblings and parents to join. Any ideas? Or better "themes" or something? Maybe a sports theme? I'm guessing around 35-40 kids total running around.

Carnivals freak me out. Creepy and dark.

Face Painting can be cheap if you hire some teenagers.. art students. You can probably rent a popcorn maker or a cotton candy machine. Balloon Animals. Throwing hoops around bottles. Ping pong balls into fish bowls. Etc.

Other Ideas...

Safari Theme. Under the Sea. Olympics. Anything really.

We did carnival theme in the back yard.

We had a neighbor face paint (purchase the Klutz kit at AC Moore with a coupon)

Before hand made a bunch of balloon animals - use You Tube for how to make them - or get a HS student to watch you tube and make them

set up on small tub for a fishing game / hula hoops for a ring toss game / balls and basket

purchase a snow cone machine - we have the waring pro one - make sure you also purchase syrups

We got a moon bounce

..... and the kids really only wanted the moon ounce and face paint

pretty sure that wouldn't be the problem here.

Rent a large popcorn maker, cotton candy maker and/or sno cone machine

It looks like most indoor bounce houses are at least 8-ft tall and the party room in our building oy has 8-ft ceilings so not going to happen.

Any other party ideas?

My friend just did this! She had a penny drop in an aquarium, a ring toss onto coke bottles, a water gun to shoot ping pong balls off golf tees stuck in those foam blocks. Face painting. And the food was carnival themed. Hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, and shaved ice. (Fruit and other health stuff of course). I thought it was so clever!

My friend did this.

Rented a snow cone, machine, and cotton candy machine.also she had tickets each kid received (chuckee cheese style) randomly not counted after each series of,games, and at the end kids redeemed prizes off a prize board.

She also had games like,3 legged race, egg and spoon, etc.
