Does anyone have any idea on the best contractor or materials to install a wooden sliding entry gate at the rear of a row house?
This is driving me crazy, it seems that this is not a popular thing, many roll up garage doors but not many that slide, and even fewer that look nice. Any tips, and recommendations welcome. |
I don't even know what that is. |
Oh, I mean a gate that slides open then you can drive your car through. Some gates swing, some gates roll, some even fold. Have you ever read that book, "That's not my Gate"? |
There's not a lot of options because it's not in demand. It may sound good, but IRL it's a maintenance nightmare. The track collects debris, get kinks or bends and rarely works properly. Installers stopped offering them because they were tired of getting complaints. They also take up a lot of space because of the installation specs.
There are now some better looking overhead type options. |
That is depressing. How about if there are wheels without the track? I really like the look of a sliding wood panel, rather that a big sheet of metal in my very small garden area. |
Ask companies that do wooden fences if they do cantilever gates, e.g.:
