Go Set a watchman

Jeff, you've locked two threads on _reading_ Go Set a Watchmen. The existing thread that you point to is not actually on reading the book. That thread is about naming your child after a character in literature. These are different topics.

Well, to be honest, I haven't read any of the threads. But, other posters reported that the threads I locked were duplicates. I assume that despite its title, the original thread had transitioned to be about the book. If that is not the case, you are welcome to set me strait.

NP here, I found the beginning of that thread really annoying. If I wanted to discuss the book, it wouldn't occur to me to go back to a thread I found mildly offensive to see if it had morphed into a different topic.

you lock threads without reading them based on what people say in a report?
Anonymous
I would not say people are discussing the book. I think they are discussing controversy surrounding the "new" Atticus and naming conventions.

Sometimes I just read the topic lines. I rely on our users for a lot of things. There are only so many hours in a day and it takes time to read long threads.

If you guys think there needs to be another thread that is not annoying at the beginning (no guarantees a new thread also won't be annoying), just say so.

It's DCUM, so it will probably be annoying, but if it could have a title free of derision that would be a good starting place.

Okay, I reopened the earlier thread that I locked. Please discuss the book here:

If someone could post rather quickly and bump that to the first page, it would be appreciated.
