| Give me your two cents for and against. |
| I give it the finger every time I drive by |
| Every one I know who sends their child / ren there has been pleased. |

It will confer confidence and open doors like no other school in this region can. It is a valuable badge to have in the wallet for a lifetime.
|
| No, it's not worth it, unless your child is in the top 40 or so students of the TJ class. For the remaining 390 to 400 students, they would be better off at their base high school. |
Why? |
| Never met a person that went that didn't love it. I'm sure there is, but they're unicorns. |
| Is it a problem for the bottom 50% when they apply to colleges? It's obviously a badge of honor to attend tj, but does it hurt you if your rank is mid to low in the pecking order of super smart kids? |
| They don't rank their students. |
Better to be a big fish in small pond, then a small fish in a big lake. |
| How about people whose kids actually attend(ed) TJ answer this question. Haters can move on. Yes, it is worth it, as long as you/your student understand it is not a golden ticket to a lifetime of success. It is a great experience in and of itself. College admissions are at least as difficult from TJ as from other FCPS high schools, but the four years there offer an unparalleled experience. |

You haven't met my husband, who made it through well enough but will never send our kids there. |
| Is it worth it? Depends on how much you/your DC are willing to give. Worth it to some, not to others. |
| Worth it? It's free. So, yeah, I'd say it's worth it. |
