Deposit Game

New to the 2 year old preschool process.
Is it typical for parents to put down that first deposit (not the 1st half of tuition)at the first school they get into while they are waiting for possible acceptance at other preschools? Looking at 5 and have heard favorably from 1 so far. |

| How much are typical deposits? The first school we're likely to hear from is 1,000. Is that typical? |

| $1,000 seems high to me, but whether you should do it depends on how likely it is that your child will get into another school and how bad you need the spot. If you need care and don't have any other options in the event that one of the other schools does not come through, the $1,000 might be well spent. Back when I was looking for a two year old spot, they were kind of hard to find so I would have paid the $1k. |

| yeah, i put down a $450 deposit at a school i wasn't sure i would send my daughter to...but $1000 does seem high. not sure what i would do... |
