Expectant and Postpartum Moms

Did anybody else have a tummy pooch early on (8 or 9 weeks)? You can't tell when I have my pants on but I looked down in the shower today and was like, "Where the heck did that come from?!?!" I normally have a flat stomach (I tend to gain any weight elsewhere) so this is not normal for me. It isn't hard like a baby bump but looks like I gorged on carbs for the past few weeks (which I have not done!). Anybody else have this?!?!? |

It's bloating.
There are lots of posts in the archives regarding that. See for example: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/39718.page#264703 |

Do a search and you'll find a ton of discussions about showing really early.
It's bloating most likely as your body retains as much water as possible (so keep super hydrated) to sustain body function and the life of the baby. |

OP here, just wanted to say that I have felt bloated before but nothing like this so I just didn't put the two together. I had done some searches but wasn't looking for the right thing! Thank you for the quick responses.

I have found my tummy comes and goes. Somedays I actually need mat pants other times my skinny jeans fit. Some day, my pants fit in the morning and are tight at night. So I now refer to my belly as my precious little gas baby.

My friend and her husband actually called their baby "Gassy Peanut" for the first trimester. I can see the humor, but I always feel a little sorry that the baby started off in life with that name
