Recommend your backpack for a Kindergarten Kid

Anonymous
I have ordered the Obersee, or O3, backpacks in the past but I was wondering if there is something more appropriate for a kindergarten kid. Thanks.

I like Pottery Barn kids backpacks. Lots of designs, various sizes and they hold up well.

Just make sure to get one that holds a full sized notebook and other stuff. Dont' get one of the wee ones designed for pre school.

At kindergarten orientation, the teachers asked that parents purchase an enormous backpack rising kindergartners because they store their coat, lunch box, etc. in the backpack while in the classroom.

Thankfully, we'll send DC to school without much in the backpack because it looks ridiculously large!

I got this LL Bean backpack for my Kindergartner last year. It's held up very well. It's big enough to last through several years of elementary school. I like that it has pockets on the outside for water bottles - many backpacks don't. I sent my K kid to school with 2 water bottles - one in his lunchbox that gets put in the lunch bin first thing in the morning and one in the outside backpack pocket which he drinks from in the classroom.

I got the matching lunchbox which fits perfectly inside the backpack. This is a nice feature because it means fewer things for my K kid to have to carry and keep track of.

Good to hear. We just ordered the same for our rising Kindergartener. We were torn between the LLBean Discovery backpack and the Junior backpack but figured it would last a few years so went with the discovery. We also liked that the Discovery had side pouches to hold water bottles.

Seriously, you need a big one. It looks too big, it's just right.

I found this one a tiny bit small if you want to keep a jacket in it, as well. But it's great quality. We went up one size in LL Bean's classic school backpacks, and that is still going strong, ready for 3rd grade.

Llbean regular size, not junior. Bought it for K, now going into 2nd grade and it still looks good.

I was just at Hanna Andersson and really like their backpacks. Look pretty sturdy to me.
