We have a wedding to go to in Myrtle Beach, and I can't find any non-stop flights. So by the time we hang around in airports, travel time is about 6 hours. I looked into flying to Charlotte, NC, but then it's a 4 hour drive. Does anyone have a brilliant, faster way to get there? Driving looks to be about 7.5 hours.

DCA to Charleston, SC via UsAirways, then rent a car.
ITA - fly into Charleston. Just be aware South Carolina GAUGES you with rental car taxes that you won't see when you make a reservation. In fact, we go down there quite frequently and only see them when we return the car. Highway robbery.

I think United flies direct from Dulles

PP - direct flights down there change seasonally - usyally for golf and beach-based demand from certain originating airports. I've had family down there for about 28 years and can promise you it always changes. Multiple times a year.
We drove there last year from Silver Spring and it took us 8 hours but we made a ton of stops with our 5 month old. My husband has flown there for work a few times and gone through Charlotte and including the time to get to the airport (1hr prior), it took him 7 or 8 hours. He had delays but seems to always have delays going to Myrtle Beach...
