Looking to cover up ugly old tile in the basement laundry and furnace room. Not worth pulling them up and starting over, do not think we have the ceiling height for the insulation that engineer wood would require, and do not want to put carpet in case there is water from laundry etc...
Anyone used the peel and stick vinyl. Any brands that work better than others? |
I have. Used Armstrong peel and stick on a laundry room floor. Easy to do, cuts clean, sticks well, easy care, yes, lasts long. |
We used whatever they sell at Home Depot for the kitchen in a condo we've rented. Worked ok, definetelly improved the looks, but not sure re long term as we've moved out a year later. |
I've used a couple of different types (Home Depot). These things are really pretty incredible. You just score and snap to cut to size. Very easy to lay. A couple of cautions - the floor must be smooth and absolutely level, and make sure to plan your layout in advance so you don't end up with a row of 1" (or whatever) tiles. Another thing - if you want it to look good, you really need to remove the shoe molding (quarter round?), install the tile, and then install new molding. That's the hardest part. However, that may not matter to you in the areas that you're tiling. The stuff wears really well and can definitely freshen up a space. |
I've used it in my upstairs hallway bath and in the bathrooms in a rental my parents recently sold. looks really nice compared to what was there before and has held up really well. It's super easy to install too. |
A friend used it in her basement. Looks great three years later. |
Just stay away from really light colors, as with any floor. |
Yes! I put them in kitchen, pantry and laundry. Look great. I paid a handyman to install them. |
Thank you, please share your brand and where you bought them? Anywhere other than Home Depot/lowes to go look at these please?
Will look into the Armstrong ones. |
Carpet / flooring stores will have them, but your can't beat the price at HD or Lowes. You can buy them as invidual tiles, go pick a bunch out and bring them home to see what looks best. There are 12x12, 18x18, etc. Home Depot had a color I liked that wasn't available at Lowes, so you really need to check both. Also, pay attention to the thickness. Thicker tiles are obviously better quality. |
I used Traffic Master Allure vinyl plank tiles from Home Depot in my bathroom. Super easy to install and they've held up well (been about a year).
They have all the color samples in the store, but I ended up ordering the color I chose online since they didn't have any in stock at the store. |
Why? Our basement is so dark - would rather be able to see what is on the floor! |
