There's a petition online to get FCPS to change the names of Lee and Stuart HS, both named after Confederate generals in the late 1950s after the Supreme Court had ruled segregated schools were unconstitutional. If you agree these names have no place in public schools, please consider signing the petition, which has gathered over 700 signatures in less than a week.

cra-zy.
The graduates are the ones who make a difference and a legacy, not the name of their high school. Focus on the bigger picture. |
|
Yeah, no.
I'll pass. Is there one to keep the names as they are? Perhaps I'll look into starting one. |
| Already signed! About time. |

What is this mission to erase all memories of the civil war? It happened. Justice won, and we all learned from it.
Should we also petition that they shut down the Holocaust museum because we want to forget that too? "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana |
Huh? There's a big difference between remembering something and honoring those who did evil things. We don't call it the Eva Braun museum for a reason. |

Thomas, sixth Lord Fairfax, for whom Fairfax County was named, was a slave owner.
We have a lot of renaming to do. |
| Signed! Thx. |
+1 Flabbergasted by the pp's reasoning. |
| This town is too pc. Soon everything will be no name street or no name high school. Maybe the highschool formally known as? Ridunkulous. |
| I bet General Braddock committed some controversies. Time to research. |
Everyone is losing their minds. |
Just name everything after plants and animals. North left shark street |
| Madison and Jefferson were both slave owners. Oops! Better add those schools to the petition too. |
| South Van Dorn is offensive, just name it Van Dorn. |
