And do you get info like a map of the classrooms - so your kid (if new) can find their room?
T.I.A |
| Our school sends out a postcard the Monday before school starts. |
| Our school posts it on a board for Orientation the Friday before school starts. |
Same |
Ours too - the postcard is mailed the week before so we usually have it on that Tuesday. Then it's also posted on the Friday for the "Open House" where we can see the classroom and drop off school supplies and meet the teacher. We're in Montgomery County. |
| We get a postcard from the teacher the Wednesday before school starts, and go to open house that Friday to meet the teacher. We don't find out who else is in the class until open house when the names are on the wall. |
Ah! this is great news - I didn't think we'd meet the teacher or find the room until the very first day. This is a big relief. Thank you.

| I think all the MoCo ESes hold orientation the Friday before so kids can visit classrooms and meet the teacher briefly. |
| OP, what grade-level school are you referring to? ES? or MS/HS? |
Why does that matter? I've had my answers, thanks very much. |
I asked that question. It matters because a lot of ES are self-contained classrooms. They might post the homeroom teacher on the door a few days before the school year begins, you see your child has Ms. Jones and that's that. In MS and HS, they are changing classes throughout the day with 7 teachers, where a map of the school would be relevant. |
