Another ridiculous article that's all over the place. Of course irrational and authoritarian parents often produce emotional wrecks.

We should be authoritative, not authoritarian: develop our children's critical thinking skills so that they can choose for themselves wisely, with all knowledge at hand. We should expect a high standard of achievement from our children, and, given the dismal state of education in this country, that means injecting more intellectual rigor into our children's lives than what most schools shoot for. That's not helicoptering, that's parenting.
