I've seen this enough times now that I'm wondering why. A very large star on a one level house usually one the outside of the house stuck to the front. And it's year round |
Op here. I've seen it on many houses, not just one |
Decorative? |

Here is a write-up of the history. |
On a historic home, usually very old brick (like all over Georgetown and Old Town), the stars are a structural support. Decorative on the outside but serving a purpose of supporting the joists.

There was thread on this a while back. It wa suggested that the star marked the house of couples who swing. |
Really??? I thought it signified a family occupant had died in WWI or WWII. |
I see those all over the eastern shore. Seems that easily 25% of the houses there have those large stars affixed |
A lotta swingers out that way |
Thanks! Op here |
What about the white rocks? |
Thank you for this. My DH is from PA and I see so many of those when we go to visit. Always wondered what that was about and he didn't know. |
