We want to get our TV mounted above our fireplace, but there's only an electrical outlet there. Any recommendations for companies to do this? And how much did you pay to have it done? TIA! |
Do you mean there's NO electrical outlet there? An electrician can move your outlet and from there, it is very easy to mount the TV about the fireplace on the studs. |

Get a handyman to run a cable line and mount the tv. Easy job. Easy DIY. An electrician can do it but at twice the cost. I would hope a few hundred at most. |
How big is your room and how high is your fireplace?
I hate TVs over fireplaces unless the room is huge. If it is smaller or medium you end up having to look up to watch TV. The angle is all wrong. |
Room is quite large. Fireplace about 5 feet high. We mainly want this done because we have a now mobile baby and worry about the risks of a TV being close to the ground where she could pull at it. |
Depends on where you live but try Mr TVMount |
Do you use your fireplace? I've heard having the TV there can damage it. The smoke and heat can really fry it. |
we have our TV safety-strapped to the tv stand. Most TVs these days have screw holes on the back (for the wall mount) that you can screw the safety strap into. Easy peasy. |
FWIW, our TV is set far back on a stand and 2 year old DD so far hasn't expressed any interest in pulling it down. If she does, we are going to strap it to the wall. Super easy. |
