Is sherbert yellow paint color outdated ?

We have a cedar shingle house now a faded yellow. I actually like the color yellow but are their variations more popular now? I am grayed out.

I loathe sherbet yellow. It's too bright, and is hard on my eyes. It was in my master bedroom, and even though I really didn't want to paint, I couldn't handle it.

Rather than gray there are other neutral colors - light silvery blue, taupe, green.

For exterior I'm not sure. But I think Benjamin Moore Lemon Sorbet is nice as an interior color.

I thought sherbet yellows were quite pale yellows? I love pale yellows and have a weakness for pale yellow houses.

They are pale, yet still bright. It's hard to explain.

Why do you think it's a bad color? It even goes with gray paint that is very trendy right now. It's a lovely color that really warms up a room.

It physically hurts my eyes. Pale/faded yellow is fine on the exterior, but interior yellows I cannot stand.

Yellow, pure bright lemon yellow is the most fatiguing color. Why? The answer comes from the physics of light and optics. More light is reflected by bright colors, resulting in excessive stimulation of the eyes. Therefore, yellow is an eye irritant. Some claim that babies cry more in yellow rooms, husbands and wives fight more in yellow kitchens, and opera singers throw more tantrums in yellow dressing rooms. However, these reports have not been scientifically proven.

These yellows, with a slight green undertone are easier on the eyes, but I still wouldn't use them for four interior walls-

There is a yellow house just off of Braddock on the right as you travel east somewhere between Colchester Rd and 123. It is NEON YELLOW - and it is absolutely hideous. I don't know what shade sherbet yellow is, but if it's anything like that you don't want it.

On the other hand, a pale yellow house, especially with gray and white accents (door, shutters), can look quite charming.

I agree -- I love a pale yellow house. It's friendly and classic. Everyone is trying to convince us to re-paint a home we just bought from pale yellow to a grey or taupe but I love the yellow.

This doesn't make any sense at all. Wouldn't white be the most fatiguing of all, if this were true?
