Uhhhh, I’m thinking the only Spanish guest at her wedding was her SIL. DM is in Majorca and can’t find anyone who knew her. In fact one of her parents friends said they didn’t even know they had a daughter. This is all so strange.

Alec knew. Everyone in Hollyweird knew. All the bloggers and entertainment reporters knew and weren't allowed to publish it (makes you wonder what else they all sit on doesn't it?). A team of lawyers crafted their prenup, you don't think they did a simple background check on her? All of this was public info busybodies found on page 1 of google for goodness sake. "Sleuthing" makes it sound a heavy lift, it wasn't. Now all of this new piling on is sleuthing, I suppose. But the basics were right in front of everyone's faces. It's just a charade she took too far. She should have backed off it and just laid low, let go of the wanna be famous dream. Her downfall was her addiction to instagram. Social media truly warps our brains.

Yes! There’s a former yoga student on Reddit who has detailed their relationship pre Alec. Short version: She said when she first met her at the yoga studio that was the sex cult (Yoga for the people - I think?) that she was Hillary and had no accent. Then she went on vacation to Spain for two weeks and came back as Hilaria and with an accent. That’s when she went to work at the new yoga place where she met Alec. Apparently Hilario stopped talking to all her previous acquaintances/ cut them off.

Why though, if everyone knew, what was the purpose of the ruse? I am failing to understand what the point of all of this was, particularly if Alec was in on it?

So, I get it why there is what to be upset over from a cultural appropriation standpoint, especially for someone with supposedly liberal ideals like Alec Baldwin. But apart from that, while it’s embarrassing and kind of pathetic for Hilary, aren’t all celebrities and influencers carefully curating their images and brands? They have a public aspect of their personalities and we have no clue how authentic that is. Maybe they don’t lie about the baseline facts and background like Hilaria did, but to an extent, everything we think we know about celebrities and influencers is fake and we are kind of the problem for enabling them.

So apart from the cultural appropriation part, which is again, reprehensible, I think most of us find this funny and also kind of satisfying in part because Hilaria was just kind of a braggart in her picture perfect life - implying that it’s effortless to be a beautiful, constantly pregnant yet I n shape, “expat” mother of five who serves plant based, homemade everything in a pristine house while simultaneously doing yoga on the countertops and breastfeeding - without acknowledging all the work and invisible staff in the background enabling all of it. It’s a relief, on some level, to know that some portion of it is a sham. But she is probably just the tip of the iceberg is celebrity/influencer culture, as opposed to the iceberg itself.

There is a certain karma playing out for sure. I think he’s too narcissistic to acknowledge he was completely duped like a fool.
