| Neighbors invited my children and I to july 4th cookout. Never been invited to cookout by neighbors before. I shouldn't go empty handed, right? What should I bring over? |
| Berry pie |
| What do you cook well? I would go with an appetizer, side or dessert, depending on your talents. Bring something that doesn't have to be heated or cooked, can sit out for several hours safely, and appeals to kids. |
| Beer |
+1. If she hasn't asked you to bring something, I'd not take the chance that you mess up her menu, or that she feels obligated to serve what you've made. You also don't know about any potential allergy issues or other food concerns. |
| Mixed berries -- everything is in season, they are good with any existing dessert and the kids will eat them. |
| Wine or beer is always welcome. So is watermelon or some sort of dip type food. |
| Ask "what can I bring?" If she says "yourselves" just bring beer. Otherwise, beer plus whatever she says. |

| Drives me nuts when people randomly show up with food they expect me to serve |
+1 We enjoy having people over for bbqs and go to friends' several Times a month. This is exactly what we do and what friends do. |
You must be a lovely hostess. |
No one wants that shit |
I do! |
Are you crazy? That's the first thing to disappear. |
