Feet hurt after 8 hrs of standing

Anonymous
I bought the nice shoes that are supposed to be supportive for long periods of time. No change. I am nearly limping to the car each day after work. Advice?

Get a new job?

Is it a new job requiring standing? It's hard at first, but you'll get stronger, and as you are increase your stamina, you'll be able to stand all day without discomfort.

I cannot stand for more than 15 minutes without my feet hurting! How do you manage this?

I have the same thing. Found treating with cold at the end of the day helped...not so much during though. Maybe look into different insoles for the shoes as well. I found a good cold wrap on ebay but brand new it is made by King Brand. Worth a look into to help with the pain after. http://www.kingbrand.com/Foot-Home.php?REF=34PV126.316

See a podiatrist - they can make you custom orthotics that will help immensely.

What shoes do you have? I worked retail for a couple of holiday seasons and some unattractive Merrills really helped my feet.

Danskos. I was a server/bartender throughout my twenties and these were the only shoes that really helped. I'm not sure I could do these jobs now (in my mid-thirties!). I really feel for older servers/nurses, etc. It's hard!

Freeze a water bottle and use that to massage your foot, rolling it back and forth on your soles. Stretch your calfs.
