Janney in bounds Pre-K?

Anonymous
Does anyone know how many Janney in-bounds pre-K were waitlisted?

The reason I ask is we are trying to decide if we should move our 3 yo for next year. Our desire is that our DS would attend Pre-K at Janney the following year. We do not want to keep moving our child around each year so if there was a short in-bounds Pre-K list at Janney this year, we might just leave our DS where he is - however if the list is long, we might move him to a stronger program for the next 2 years.

Thanks for any insight.

Not sure I understand your question. The P-K wait list at Janney is not a "rolling" list. There is a lottery each year and the list will be different based on the number of applicants on the number of available spots. According to people at Janney there are 100+ people on the waitlist (including OBB) and they have 40 spots this year.

I was attempting to see what my chances are for next years lottery.

I know it is not a rolling admission and that each year's lottery is different- but sometimes the past is a good predicitor of the future.

Thanks for the info!

For Janney there were 64 in boundary applicants and 40 slots, so there are 24 in boundary kids on the waitlist. You should probably call Janney in the fall to see how many slots moved on the waitlist. Most people have to commit to a pre-K program before they will know whether they got off of the waitlist, so there may be significant movement by the fall.

The people who work in the Chancellor's office on the rapid response team are really helpful and gave me these numbers.
