rental car reservation -- what if you just don't show up?

| My husband is flying in from Europe and may or may not (depending on how he feels) rent a car in order to get home from the airport. Are there any repercussions to making a reservation for a car rental and then not showing up? I'm guessing not, since all it takes to make a reservation is an email address and a name. |

| Once he's made a decision, it's common courtesy to call and cancel and free up the rental car. |
