single embryo transfer after prior failed IVF cycle?

Would appreciate some advice. My first fresh IVF cycle was negative and we transferred 2 embryos. Did a frozen embryo transfer the following month, transferred two embryos, also didn't work. Now, my husband and I are getting ready to start another fresh cycle. We are thinking we would like to do single embryo transfers going forward. I'm under 35 and our issue is male factor. We are blessed that money is not an issue for us so we can do this as many times as we are physically able to tolerate it until we have a child. Not sure if our doc is going to be ok with our request, would love to hear thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

I did a fresh transfer of 2 blasts at age 31 that led to twins.
We had 2 excellent frozen blasts left from that cycle. They were frozen together so against our better judgement we put them both back at once. Neither took.
Now I'm 34 and am doing another fresh cycle. We will only put back single embryos from this point on. I just DO NOT want another set of twins. The pregnancy was miserable and honestly so was most of the first 18 months of having twins (now that they're 2.5 they're incredibly fun, albeit tiring).

Good luck! If I was in the position of being about to afford single transfers indefinitely that's certainly what I'd do.

I can't imagine why your RE would be opposed to that (other than success rates) because it puts more money in thier pockets. But, more importantly, it's YOUR decision, not theirs so you should be able to do whatever you'd like. Good luck!

I am almost 40 and transferred 2 embryos and am now pregnant with twins. This was my 2nd IVF (1st one a success as well but got pregnant with 1 after transferring 2)

I talked to our RE about single embryo transfer and he was super supportive. I am 32 with unexplained IF. the RE said that he would probably be more likely to do a 5 day transfer if we wanted to just transfer one embryo. Good luck!!!!
