drysol users -excessive sweating

Just got a prescription for Drysol from my dermatologist. I didn’t ask any questions as I assumed it was a deodorant, but once it picked it up from the pharmacy realized my error. Anyway, I read about it a bit online and tried it last night. Boy, does it sting!! I’m also confused about not wearing deodorant while using it. Can people who use it provide some insight? From what I gather you are supposed to apply for 3-4 consecutive nights then back down to once or twice a week. I still feel like I need deodorant. My skin is pretty irritated this morning and given how much it burned last night I fear the pain if I apply it tonight. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!
