prenatal vitamins

Does it really make a difference in your chances of getting pregnant if you take one while trying?

Am curious of others' experiences.

TIA!

I'm not sure it makes a difference in GETTING pregnant, but it definitely impacts your chance of having a healthy baby. You NEED folic acid, the more the better. If you do nothing else, take at least 800 mg of folic acid each day, preferably more. Plus a multi-vitamin, if you can.

It does not help in getting pregnant, but it does help in preventing neural tube defects for your baby once you do get pregnant. Research has shown that women who take folic acid starting 3 months BEFORE CONCEPTION and during the pregnancy are 70% less likely to have a baby with neural tube defects than women who do not. So it won't help you getting pregnant, but it will certainly increase your chances of having a healthy baby once you get pregnant.
