Old area rugs -- how to get rid of them?

| Does anyone know if Fairfax County will pick up large (8 x 11) area rugs as a part of its special collection service? If not, how do you get rid of these items short of hauling them to the dump (which we can't do because they won't fit in the car)? thx |

I think you need to call to arrange for a special pick-up:

| Offer it on free cycle. Someone will come pick it up. |
