I have several moles, and am honestly not sure if this one is new (although I think it is). I was feeling it -- not even intentionally squeezing it -- and some clear fluid came out.
Googling it is freaking me out. Of course, I am going to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist right away -- but is this ever normal? I am panicking. I've never had fluid come out of a mole before. |
| I don't think anyone could really say over the internet. It might be some sort of cyst maybe? I've never heard of a cancerous mole leaking fluid. I'm no doctor though. You have the right plan. Get to a derm tomorrow and hopefully your mind will be put to rest. If it makes you feel better I detected a mole that solidly looked like melanoma. Even the doctor was really concerned. It was totally normal. Good luck!! |
| Are you sure it's really a mole? Like the PP said, it could be anything. Don't panic! See the derm ASAP. |
| I have one that breaks open every few months and scabs over. I was told it was perfectly normal by two different derms. |

OP - my mom died of melanoma so believe me - I get your concern. Google will not help you. It might scare you. Call for a dermatologist appt tomorrow and tell the receptionist what happened. Let the dermatologist tell you if they are concerned etc. Hope it is ok but please don't spend hours on the Internet etc. Do what is helpful - and that would be to see a skin doc.
Hugs! |
+a million. Everytime I google symptoms I'm pretty much convinced I'm going to die. Stay away from Googlr |
| And especially stay away from Google Images. |
Particularly for skin conditions.... |
Please, please, please insist on getting that biopsied. Don't just go to a "regular" derm, go to an skin cancer specialist. Please. I have personal experience with this. |
Really? I'm not pp but I have the same issue in three places. Have for years and the different derms I've seen shrugged it off. Never liked any of them much, though, since they gave me a hard time about worrying about skin cancer in my 20s. Maybe it's time to find a good doc. Any recs? |
| Brenda Berberian in Chevy Chase (in that big medical building across from Saks). She's terrific. |
| I like Dale Isaacson. He's downtown. |
I see Urvi Gonzalez, who I like, and who I can't imagine shrugging it off. She would probably take it off for a biopsy just because it bothered me. |
PP that has this. I've actually had skin cancer and see a derm that specializes and isn't concerned. Perhaps the difference is that I'm not bothered by it if the doctor isn't. |

OP here. I saw a dermatologist today. It was a skin tag, and they removed it for me.
There was another mark on my face that has been there for awhile, which they were concerned about -- a little red dot. They "froze it" (I forget the technical term), and if it does not go away, or comes back, they want to biopsy it. Does that sound right? |
