DI Y Pest control

Any advice/experience with buying pesticide from somewhere like Home Depot to spray around the outside of the house to keep bugs from coming in? Does it work? Any more toxic than what pest control companies use? Any other advice about keeping bugs out, especially millipedes?

I use DemonMax concentrated liquid, mixed with water in a 2 gallon sprayer. I ordered it from Amazon on the suggestion of my dad. Works great. I live in a very bug-prone area (not DC). During the buggy months I do it every 2 months and haven't had a single issue. I go out about 8 feet from the house and a couple feet up on the foundation.

16:16 again - I can do the whole perimeter of my 2700 sq ft footprint house with 4 gallons (4 oz mixed with 4 gallons of water). Very cost effective compared to using a company.

PP, what do you use for mosquitos in the backyard?

The Demon Max seems to do a decent job, we have a screened patio, eliminate standing water (we do have a spot where we just dug up our fence that gets standing water, ugh...) and I try to wear long lightweight pants at dusk if we have to be out in the yard. I don't do anything special beyond regular psraying for mosquitoes.
