Our HVAC unit is dead and we've been pricing out replacement systems. The sales guy I saw yesterday claimed that Carrier and Lennox were very comparable and suggested we buy Carrier brand for the best value. The sales guy I saw today claimed that his technicians hate working on Carrier systems and that Lennox is like the "BMW" of HVAC systems. Anyone out there have an opinion on this? Thanks! |
Carrier, Lennox and Trane are all premium brands
They cost more to repair down the line, because you need certified service. Lennox is definitely the most expensive of the three but you are paying for the nameplate on all of them |
Trane. |
I've met with three HVAC companies at this point and they all said Trane had some serious manufacturing issues right now. Not sure of this is true, but that's what I've been told. |

Goodman |
Avoid Lennox, it's over priced. |
Get a Trane. |
I had heard this too, and not from people trying to sell me HVAC. I wound up with Carrier last year. Fantastically energy efficient on AC, but didn't see any savings on heat. |
Not OP, but we are also having the same issue. I wanted a Goodman but the reps who came out who claimed to install offered other units. |
This is the most reasonable quote we have received on a better unit. |
I have found that goodmans last as long and are more affordable to fix. They come with a 10 year warranty. |
We replaced ours a years ago with a Carrier. Our HVAC company said that Trane wasn't what it used to be. If I remember correctly I think it was something about the company being sold a few years ago. Apparently the quality isn't what it used to be. |
