Poconos - without kids?

Looking for relaxing, laid back local (up to 4 hr dr) long weekend ideas. Thinking about poconos. Anyone been? Not sure yet if we are bringing the 2 yr old or sending him to grandparents. Any suggestions for poconos as a vacation spot or must dos?
I vaguely remember it as a kid. Worried it's more run down than it was 30 years ago. I'm prego so low key but relaxing (and not DC hot) is ideal. Thanks. |

| We went pre-kids, about 15 years ago. It was fun, romantic & cheesy. It was a nice weekend, not spectacular. Very laid-back. |

| We have a house up there. It's very relaxing because there is almost nothing to do. It's always much cooler which i love. |
