| Heading to Day Out with Thomas next weekend and meeting our cousins there, so staying a few extra days. We're staying at the Best Western near there and will have 4 and 2.5 year old boys and a 1 year old. Besides the obvious Thomas stuff, where would you recommend eating and other activities? Is Dutch Wonderland worth it? I vaguely remember a restaurant called Good n Plenty when I went ages ago with my family. It's not my ideal vacation, but I'm sure the kids will love it. Thanks! |

Dutch Wonderland is great for young kids.
You may also want to check out the RR Museum of PA: http://www.rrmuseumpa.org and the Choo Choo Barn: https://www.choochoobarn.com There are lots of smörgåsbord/buffet style restaurants. They're all pretty much the same. |

Turkey Hill Ice Cream Experience is great with kids and not bad for adults too (plus, plenty of ice cream and tea samples)
There is also an indoor farmers market that is one of the oldest in the country. It's right in the middle of town. They have a few places in there with some good food. |
| Turkey Hill definitely. |

Look on the Lancaster tourism website for the list of covered bridges and the driving route to see them (they have a full route with directions). It's not so much about the bridges, but it forces you to go through all these tiny backroads to get to them, and you see some cool stuff along the way.
Strasbourg railroad and the fudge shop down the street. Amish farm tour (it's next to the Target) Horse and buggy ride (just next to Good 'n Plenty) Harley Davidson factory tour (in York.. slight drive) |

My family loves the Sight & Sound Theater -- Huge production on par with Broadway. "Joseph" is the current show. Live animals -- it's awesome.

I wasn't impressed by the Turkey Hill thing. I do think Dutch Wonderland is worth it for those ages, especially as the younger 2 will be free and there is still plenty for them to do.
All the train stuff is great, Choo Choo barn and Toy Train Museum were my kids' favorites. Just know that at Choo Choo, you'll have to hold all the kids up to see, or the 4 year old will have to carry around their own stool. Miller's is my favorite of the smorgasbords, but I also like Hershey Farm. |
| Dutch Wonderland is perfect for those sages. You get free evening admission on a previous day with a one day ticket. |

Dutch Wonderland for kids definitely. They will love it. If you buy tickets you get a free three hour preview the night before, which is great.
Lancaster brewery for adults and it's kid friendly enough. The hotel in intercourse is great if that's where you're staying. The restaurant is surprisingly good and the pool is great. There is also a free petting zoo in the village. |
| There's a place that hand makes candles that was pretty cool... |
| Tour of pretzel factory. Bird in hand farmer's market. |
Have fun OP! We'll be there this weekend for the fourth year in a row. Love it! All the suggestions you've received are spot on! |
See you there, dragging my tired pregnant self behind an ecstatic 2 YO! |
I'll be with the Thomas fanatic, 6 years of Thomas and he's still not over it. Had to go this year because it's an anniversary tour plus Percy! Have fun! |
