I'm the one who is feeling magnanimous and allowing that Katie meets the standards for non celebrity, DC cute. And even I think Katie is probably the most uniquely unlikable figure to appear on MAFS. I think the person posting here is an associate of Brandon. |
That was me! I went to Mindy and Zach’s wedding |
Spill it!! were you "friend of the bride", or "friend of the groom"? How well do you know said person? When you first saw the bride/groom, were you like - NO WAY WILL THIS WORK? |
| I know Mindy well, and was in touch with her throughout the season. When I first saw Zach my impression was that he was a one. Ugh this stand kind of guy. I think my words were something like “he’s the guy you meet when your drunk and out at a bar at the beach who you sleep with and never hear from again”. But he also had some genuine moments during the wedding, and his family seemed super sweet. One thing you didn’t see on the show was that his dad asked Mindy to dance with him when Zach danced with his mom for.m mother/son, father/daughter dances, since her family wasn’t there. |

Please tell Mindy she’s a class act. I liked her honesty about her miscarriage and sister. I liked how she didn’t flip out on Zach. I liked how she didn’t wait for him to dump her and I like how she hasn’t spoken to her traitor friend. I like how she’s stuck up against the bullying of katie online. I like how excited she was for her little skaters and how she seems to take her time being thoughtful about what she says.
Like I said- class act. |
Love Mindy! I want to be her friend. |
You must have very low standards. |
| Which streaming service is this on? |

Interview w Meka! |
She seems like a great woman. I hope she finds a man deserving of her, same for Mindy. |
| Derek and Meka? I could stan that. |
|
OK, I have just rewatched the season (lockdown). I also just read Meka's AMA on reddit.
I feel sorry for Michael. I think he is mentally ill, and I think that it is kind of cruel and irresponsible for the producers to film him because the implications and aftermath could really hurt him. He is clearly a very insecure, damaged person, and having all of this documented for the world, forever, is going to hinder his chances of getting better. It should have become clear to producers very early on that he has mental issues, and they should have pulled him from the show rather than allowing him to continue so that people could laugh at him and mock him. He lied about his job, and about a lot of other things there easily proven false. I felt so bad for him when he lied about his salary and showed Meka the fake contract: this guy was doing this on tv. There is something seriously wrong with him. I'm actually afraid for him now that the filming is over. I'm posting from the UK, and recently a 'talk show' here, the Jeremy Kyle show, was shut down after a participant committed suicide. This was a damaged person who was obviously recruited and allowed to be filmed so that the audiences could mock him, and it ruined the man's life. I think this is similar, and I hope the show is making some kind of effort to support Michael in the inevitable aftermath. If he hurts himself, I think the producers are responsible. |
| I understand the concern for Michael but he decided to participate and put forth a false version of himself. I do not recall Meka mocking him on the show, she was just expressing frustration due to all the lies. I think the public’s reaction is similar. He seemed to have a good family and hopefully they will encourage him to seek help. |
No, Meka isn't mocking him on the show, but she is certainly doing that on her AMA thread today. The point is that the viewing audience is mocking him, and it's all over social media and the internet. The producers of the show saw what was happening, and how sick he is, and they chose to keep him on the show and release the footage anyway. That's exploiting someone's mental illness. It is exploiting someone with deep insecurity and self image issues, someone who needs mental health counselling and help. That is different from snarking on someone's crooked teeth or bitchy comments or bad hair. It really is. I think Michael lies because he is disgusted by himself and wants other people to see him as something other than what he is. Exposing him like this on TV is pretty much going to make it impossible for him to get help and fix himself because now anyone he meets will know what he is. I think he's mentally unstable enough that he probably had no concept of just how obvious his lies were to everyone around him. He really thought he was believed. Those kind of lies are evidence of a very unwell person, someone who should be protected. The producers should have some kind of duty of care to a person they discover has a deep-rooted pschological problem. There have been some recent, high profile suicides of former reality show participants. I think producers need to be held accountable for lack of responsibility in ensuring that people with psychological problems are not put into a position that is going to be harmful to them. And Michael falls in this category. |
No she’s too much of a sour puss. Even when she was apologizing to Michael on the reunion special she wasn’t warm. |
